Since its founding in 1974, the Vermont Cancer Center (VCC) has been committed to conducting state-of-the-art cancer research, treatment, and education. VCC focuses on the coordination and promotion of interdisciplinary approaches to cancer research, prevention, patient care and community education through a marriage of labs and clinics.

VCC plays an important role in the Vermont and northern New York communities, serving to influence standards of cancer prevention and treatment. VCC research is conducted primarily at the University of Vermont and is currently organized into four thematic programs: Cancer Prevention and Control, Clinical, Cell Signaling and Growth Control, and Genome Stability and Expression. World-class patient care is provided by the VCC clinics located in Fletcher Allen Health Care including: the Breast Care Center, Hematology/Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, Dermatology, and the Cancer Patient Support Program.
