Inpatient Rehabilitation
Our 35-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is located at the Fanny Allen Campus where Fletcher Allen's Rehabilitation Center is based. We provide team-based care, working closely with PTs, OTs, SLPs, Recreational Therapists and Medical Psychologists.
We have a wide range of patients, including brain injuries, strokes, spinal cord injuries, and multi-traumas. Our patients range from teenagers as young as 13 to people in their 90s. Our average length of stay is 13 days, but our range is 5 to 90 days.
Inpatient Rehabilitation nursing is a different type of nursing. We are primarily coaching and educating as we work to fulfill our primary role of teaching our patients to perform the activities they'll need to be able to do in their daily lives. We work very closely with PTs and OTs and we help our patients carry out their treatments. If you like to develop relationships with your patients and their families, and you have patience and good people skills, inpatient rehabilitation may be the right kind of nursing for you.
We provide support for education and professional development. We offer two in-service days per month provided by our Nurse Educator to conference attendance; your growth is our priority. We provide support for your Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) certification and a high percentage of our staff is CRRN-certified. If you are interested in improving the unit, we have a very active Unit Council focused on education and quality.
We are a close-knit team. We rely on each other and we care about each other.
